Hi guys I am looking to start my own concrete thing in South Africa and I have looked at work done down here and it does not compare to what the US does. so if anyone can help me with what I need to know because I have no knowledge in concrete, only granite. No one down here can even help me with acid staining.

Jayson, if you're serious, you need to invest in training. There are many options available. I highly recommend either Buddy Rhodes with Nick or Brandon Gore (I've trained with both). It's a healthy investment but it will no doubt put you on the best path to success. A suggestion would be to first invest in books and/or DVDs from above. I have the books and DVDs and it helped going into training having already tried things or at least having a better understanding of what to expect.

DO NOT just try to cobble shit together off here and other forums. Before you know it you'll have GFRC mix at 1" thick with rebar and large aggregate or wetcast trying to go up verticals by hand. Find the style that best suits you, pick the system that best suits that style then pick the training that best serves that system.

Jayson,

Read up, watch videos, search the forum. Nobody is going to help you unless you start helping yourself first. If you are hungry enough you will do so.

OK awesome stuff guys, thanks for the advice, I am in the process of saving up so that I can fly down and do a course.

Going to order those dvd's soon aswell. thanks again.

Acid staining is popular where I'm at just stay away from pozzolons ie. Kaolin, and oily form releases. Good luck.
