It's in the Mix
I got this lamp fixture thing and was wondering if any of you have cast on such a thing before.
Its made of what appears to be some sort of glass, but its not glossy smooth.
I am worried that concrete will stick to it too well.
Any ideas on how to make a nice mold of it, OR to cast on it and reuse it over and over?
Here is what it looks like.,
What smooth on product did you use? Silicones don't need air to cure, and their foams definitely aren't made for molds. one trial size oo-moo would fill that glass, and make an exact mold of it without any sealer or mold release. You could mix it up, pour it in, and yank it out the next day.
what foam did you use? Not all expandable foams are the same, For molds i recommend smoothon's foams
I used spray foam in a can for cracks made by Great Stuff. Thought thats what you meant.
Gotcha. I've never seen oomoo stick to anything except other silicone.
What I ended up doing was filling the fixture with Plaster and popped out this heavy plaster mould. I covered it with resin and sanded and it makes a pretty good mould.
I made a sink with it and I tried something artsy and I dont really like it so it may go in the sink bone yard.
Hand pressed with Buddy Rhodes Straw pigment.
Bro, I think that turned out pretty good.
