"Awesome, thanks Bill. I made the moulds today using a plastic window pane cut into a 1 1/2 strip. I ran a really thin bead of superglue that worked instantly. I will post all pics when complete, (assuming I don't screw up!!!)"

"I would also consider forming the one side first.  Scribe the "S" onto a piece of material.... cut it and then trace it onto your table.  Would not matter if you made them one mile apart... they would have to fit."

"Thanks for the pics Allan. I wonder if I could just super glue the plastic strip in place as it will be dividing the actual mould itself, ie it will have mud packed on both sides and will only be seperated upon curing. "

Curvy wurvy seams.

Hi,I am making a counter and instead of having two straight seams I would like to create a sort os 'S' shaped seam using some sort of thin plastic perspex cut to the same depth as my mould.I have templated the whole area in one piece and plan to make my mould in one piece as well but just insert two pieces of thin plastic (two seams)  sheet to make my seams. Once fully cured iI just separate the pieces knowing that they will fit back together again perfectly as it is just one mould with…See More

Templating Material

Hi,I have so far only made planters, fire bowls, fire tables and a few basic counters. When templating for my last counter the only material I could find was a thick (ish) card which had the habit of bending/folding at just the wrong time. I managed ok as it was a basic shape.I now have to template for a more complex design and was wondering what people use to template with and where materials are sourced? Thanks for any help. See More

Unfortunately I don't have any pics. It's not as difficult as it would seem. It's four pieces of form. Tape off the edges you want to keep clean. Spray faces. Place design in top face coat. More face coat. Remove tape. Join top and two sides. Place backer just past where shelf will go. Insert shelf form. Finish backer and cover with plastic. I left the backer exposed. You could put more face over it if you wanted, but I wasn't worried. The fibers aren't that noticable and give a little interest to the inside. That's about it, if something isn't clear let me know.

Hey Scott,

It's actually one piece. I didn't get the face coat into the form joints in some places well enough, so grout was used to fill in, that's why some places look joined. I made this one for my oldest son, and he loves it. The AGT stones make it fun at night. I'm sure your son would enjoy it. Hope you post pics of it when your done.

Thanks Scott. Here is pic of the mould. It's fiberglass and I made a cart for it to keep it straight. I used plastic sign board to make the slots, and siliconed them in place. They let go of the form easy then just knock them out. I used gfrc so I spayed on the face, back filled and troweled on some more face.

Yes I buy from Nu-west construction supplies in Richmond .
They are the only ones around. You might want to try ordering it online and having it shipped to a freight holding warehouse such as ship happens I know the just opened a new store in Orville which is a few hours closer to you and they are cheap. Might be worth checking it out online
I was thinking about the chair but the mould is a little pricey.
Starting off with making bathroom vanities and with integrated sinks and lifting them on Craigslist
